💣 Depth Charge

answer fast, hand it on, don't be holding it at the boom

RareGuess for a crowd. Everyone shares one prompt and a ticking charge; give a correct answer to hand it to the next diver. Set up a room for your group, or drop into an open one. Keep at least one heart to the end and you win.

How Depth Charge works

  • Everyone answers the same prompt, one diver at a time. Answer correctly and the charge passes to the next diver.
  • The fuse is hidden and different every time. If it blows while you're holding it, you lose a heart. Then a new prompt comes up.
  • Each answer works once per prompt. If anyone in the room has given it, pick something else.
  • Answers score the same points as in solo dives, so obscure ones are worth more. Your points fill a meter, and each 200 points adds a spare heart (you can hold 3).
  • Lose every heart and you're out. Whoever still has a heart at the end wins.

A multiplayer rare answer game

Depth Charge takes the idea behind RareGuess, where every prompt has many right answers and the rare ones are worth more, and turns it into a party game. Instead of each player diving alone, the whole room works on one prompt at a time. You have to answer quickly to get rid of the charge, but every answer can only be used once, so the easy ones go first and the later turns get harder. Obscure answers still pay off: they fill your meter faster and earn spare hearts.

Game modes

  • 1v1: two divers, head to head. Play it ranked to climb the rating table, or casual for practice.
  • 3s: three divers, matched automatically.
  • 4–6 and 8–10: bigger games for a crowd. The room starts when enough divers are in.
  • Your own room: host a room for 2 to 10 people, make it public or private, and start when everyone is ready.

How to host a room or join with a code

Enter a name, pick an avatar and press Open a room. You get a four-letter room code; send it to your friends, or share the page link, which carries the code. Friends type the code in the Got a room code? box and press Join. Public rooms also appear in the list of open rooms, so anyone can drop in; untick Show it in the open rooms list to keep the room to people who have the code. When at least two divers are in, the host presses Start.

How it differs from a solo dive

In a solo dive you get 7 prompts, 25 seconds each, and play for your own score. In Depth Charge there is no fixed number of prompts and no score to beat: the game goes on until one diver is left. The fuse is hidden and changes every time, so speed matters more than in a solo dive, and you also have to remember what the others have already said. Points are worked out the same way, from 10 for the most common answers up to 100 for the rarest.

Diver avatars

Everyone starts as a shrimp. More avatars unlock as your best Daily 7 streak grows: minnow at 5 days, octopus at 14 days, lanternfish at 30 days, kraken at 45 days. Play the Daily 7 each day to unlock them, and compare your scores with friends on the friends board.

Multiplayer FAQ

Can you play Krillion multiplayer for free?

Krillion's own multiplayer mode is on its official site, krillion.io. Depth Charge is a different, independent multiplayer rare-answer game made by Daily Game Arcade, and it is free: every room, every open game and every ranked match. It is not affiliated with Krillion or its creator.

Is there a 1v1 mode?

Yes. Pick 1v1 to be matched with one other diver. Ranked 1v1 pairs you with someone of a similar rating and changes both ratings when the game ends; casual 1v1 does not count.

How many players can join a room?

A room you host takes 2 to 10 divers. Matchmaking also offers 1v1, games of 3, games of 4 to 6 and games of 8 to 10.

Do I need an account to play multiplayer?

No. Choose a name and an avatar and you can play straight away; your rating is kept in this browser. Signing in with Google is optional and carries your rating and avatars to other devices.

How is the winner decided?

Everyone starts with 2 hearts. If the charge blows while you are holding it, you lose one, and every 200 points you score earns a spare (up to 3). Lose them all and you are out. The last diver with a heart left wins.
